weary and faint

When you wake up feeling too weary and faint for the day that lies ahead, it is God’s good pleasure to refresh and satisfy you.

“For I [the Lord] refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” Jeremiah 31:25

Father, I will wait and watch and thank you all day long.

listen and look up

You could race through this day with your head down, or you could listen and look up as you go.

“Your greatest danger is letting the urgent things crowd out the important.” Charles Hummel

Father, please show me the work You have for me to do today, so that I may do it well in the pleasure of Your company. From John 17:4

unfurled

Do you ever wonder what you’ll look like unfurled?

“[B]iblical trust is the conviction that God wants us to grow, to unfold, and to experience fullness of life.” Brennan Manning

“[O]ur lives [are] gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters . . . and we become like Him.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

new and young

What if, just for today, you could trade all your same-old ways of thinking (and worrying) for new and young?

“[L]et the Spirit make your way of thinking, feeling and perceiving new and young.” Ephesians 4:23

“O Holy Spirit of God, . . . [p]ervade all my imaginations.” John Baillie

gladly

If someone who loved you and knew you (and everything else) inside out said, “It is good for you to ____,” wouldn’t you do it gladly?

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord. . . .” Psalm 92:1

Father, thank You for telling me what is good for me today. May I do it gladly.

trade places

Sometimes, without even realizing it, you take on all the pressure of running your world. Remembering that you don’t have to trade places with God is a joyous relief.

joie de vivre: hearty and carefree enjoyment of life

“The fruit of the Holy Spirit is . . . joy and delight. . . .” Galatians 5:22
