In the olden days, people had to work hard to collect enough diversions to keep themselves busy, but now they’re a dime a dozen.  With all our gadgets and conversations and trips and books and work and meetings, it’s easy to forget how to be alone.  That’s why it’s a good idea every once in a while to practice for an hour or two, even if it hurts.
