a child of God's adoration

I have been spending time with someone who is very young. He takes me by the finger and shows me the things he likes and the things he wonders about. When something scares him, he runs to me for protection. When he bumps his head, he cries, and I comfort him. He asks me for help when he needs help, and I always help him. We do laundry together, and he dances to the rhythm of the washing machine. When he laughs, he laughs until he can hardly stand up. It never occurs to him that he isn’t enough.

“If there is a part of you that is continually critical about yourself, where you come up short, where you’re not good enough, . . . that has to stop. . . . You may not disrespect yourself. . . . You are God’s creation, a child of God’s adoration. . . . No dissing.’” Br. Curtis Almquist
“Your hands made me and formed me. . . . You knit me together in my mother’s womb." Psalms 119:73 and 139:13
